For as long as we can all remember, the generic everyday peanut butter brands, Jif, Skippy, or Peter Pan, have flooded our grocery aisles. But in recent years, we’re seeing new brands come to the shelves.
The peanut butter industry is one of much growth, but also still has a lot of white space. For brands like Mumgry, they’re approaching the industry a little differently.
Introducing…Nut Butters.
Mumgry currently offers three different flavors of their delicious nut butters, and they're taking on the challenge of making peanut butter…well, better for you. Let’s take a look at what they have to offer!
Their fan favorite (and my personal favorite) is their Pistachio Chocolate Almond Butter! Mumgry taglines it as “the most luxurious nut butter and first of its kind.” This is a true statement as I’ve never tasted anything like it! It is a unique flavor and still has the creaminess of your favorite classic peanut butter…but with a twist- the pistachio of course!
The second nut butter they offer is a classic: Smooth Peanut Butter. What would a nut butter brand be if they didn’t have the good ole classics? Coming back around to the creaminess here…these butters are truly a hybrid between creamy and crunchy! Not too creamy and not too crunchy. It’s naturally smooth, the way you would expect real peanut butter to taste without the oil sitting on top. You can’t go wrong with a classic peanut butter and Mumgry hit the nail on the head with this one! It’s the perfect snack and pairs well with everything.
The last nut butter they offer (for now) is the Chocolate Peanut Butter. Mumgry’s similar take on Nutella…but better! Having the perfect blend of chocolate and peanut butter is important and they’ve perfected it with this one.
The real question is how did these delicious nut butters come to be? Well, it all started when Founder, Lilian Umurungi-Jung, realized a necessity for a different kind of peanut butter that she wasn’t seeing on her grocery aisle shelves. At the time, she was pregnant and wasn’t finding the perfect snack that was right for her or her growing baby. Now that we know a little bit of the back story, we can share the best thing about Mumgry! If you noticed, we titled the episode, “Only the Good Stuff” and that’s because Mumgry is made with only the good stuff! The good stuff is plant-based, low in sugar, high in protein, iron, and calcium. With how amazing their nut butters taste, it's truly impressive. There are quite a few brands out in the ecosystem that contain “the good stuff” but leave a thick layer of oil in the jar. This leaves the consumer having to mix the peanut butter every time they want to enjoy it. Those brands also suggest storing it in the fridge. I don't know about you, but anytime I go to the kitchen for peanut butter, I am not checking the fridge…I’m going straight to the pantry. Major plus that Mumgry is always stored in the pantry!
Not only is Mumgry on a mission to create amazing and innovative nut butters, but they also created #MumgryMonday, an initiative to recognize people doing incredible work for others. Mumgry is all about building an inclusive community of people, and they are doing just that.
